abstract = "This paper presents the results of the mapping of the changes in
land use and land cover of the Cambutu River watershed, in Rio
Grande do Sul, Brazil, in the last 11 years, using images of
Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM). We used images of Landsat
7 and Landsat 8, in 2003 and 2014, respectively. Five classes of
LULC were defined for supervised classification: water, grassland,
agriculture, forest and reforestation. The method used for the
classification was the MaxVer. To facilitate the visual
identification of the different types of LULC in the training
stage, we performed five work trips to the study area. Findings
show that in the Cambutu River watershed the predominant class in
2003 was grassland that occupied 84.57% of the watershed area in
2003 and decreased about 38.67% in the study period. The
agricultural area increased, occupying 4.14% of the watershed in
2003 and 11.34 in 2014. The forest area decreased 25.87% and the
reforestation area decreased 26.11% in this period. Based on this
quantifications, we can verify that there was an increase in the
in the agriculture areas, that occupied areas previously occupied
by grassland, forest and reforestation. The growth of agricultural
areas was, for the most part, increase soybean cultivation in the
                         Cambutu River watershed.",
